The Invisalign® Process
Starting your Invisalign journey is an exciting time! To begin, we bring you in for a consultation. During this appointment, we talk through your smile goals, take images, and determine the treatment plan that is best for you. We will also take impressions to send to the lab so they can begin making your first set of straightening trays.
Once your trays are ready, visit our office to make sure they fit, go over the recommended schedule, and learn about how to care for your trays. Your treatment schedule will include the minimum number of hours per day you will need to wear your trays – typically at least 20 hours per day. You should only remove your trays to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Make sure to clean your trays daily, as well.
After a couple of weeks, you will move on to the next set of trays in the treatment series. You will need to visit our office regularly so we can monitor your progress and give you future sets of trays. As you move through treatment, we may need to make adjustments to ensure that your teeth are moving into the desired positions.
On average, patients work through their series of trays in 12-18 months, but treatment time is based on individual needs. Once treatment is complete, we will fit you for a retainer that you will need to wear daily to prevent your teeth from shifting.
